April 10 and 11 San Diego County Grower Meeting – HLB Quarantine Expands in San Diego County
The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) recently announced the expansion of the Huanglongbing (HLB) quarantine boundary in the Valley Center area of San Diego County following the detection of two HLB-positive residential citrus trees. CDFA have treated and removed the HLB-infected trees to prevent the further spread of HLB into neighboring areas. A map of the expanded HLB quarantine boundary can be found here. Please check this link for future quarantine expansions, should they occur.
In response, CDFA and the County of San Diego Department of Agriculture, Weights & Measures (AWM) will be hosting two Citrus Grower Meetings on April 10th and 11th at 3 p.m. in Pauma Valley for commercial citrus growers and nursery owners operating in or near the expanded quarantine area.
At the meetings, representatives from CDFA’s Citrus Pest & Disease Prevention Division and the County of San Diego AWM will present an overview on the Asian citrus psyllid (ACP) and HLB in the region, provide information for growers/nursery owners who may be located inside the HLB quarantine boundary, provide an update on bulk citrus quarantine requirements and help issue HLB Compliance Agreements and Operator IDs as needed.
