Training for Field Crews: Prevent ACP and HLB in Your Orchards

December 12, 2019 @ 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm

The Citrus Pest & Disease Prevention Program is hosting a free, hands-on training workshop for field crew supervisors and farm labor contractors in Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties. The workshop will review best practices to prevent Huanglongbing (HLB) from threatening the California citrus industry’s livelihood and infecting commercial groves. Presented in Spanish, this workshop will take place on Thursday, Dec. 12 from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. at the Santa Paula Community Center in Santa Paula.

Front-line leaders in the field will learn firsthand about what they can do to reduce the risk of spreading the Asian citrus psyllid (ACP) and HLB, and ultimately protect local orchards from the disease.

During the workshop, participants will:

  • Learn best practices for field crews to prevent ACP from spreading.
  • Practice using effective communication techniques to help their crews and others understand these best practices and why they are important.
  • Understand the threat of HLB to the livelihood of the California citrus industry.

We all must do our part if we’re going to protect California citrus from this disease – and field crews are at the forefront. Growers and packinghouses are encouraged to send their staff and crews to this valuable workshop.

RSVPs aren’t required but are encouraged. Please RSVP to Paige Shewmaker at 619.296.0605, ext. 224 or ps@nstpr.com.
